NPR's Weekend EDITION

"Alex Bondarev of Bronx, N.Y. His band, Conversing with Oceans, also submitted a video to last year's Tiny Desk Contest. Bondarev liked the idea enough to enter again in 2017 — but when he filmed his video this year, he thought bigger."

ATWOOD MAGAZINE

CONVERSING WITH OCEANS TACKLES TIME ON DREAMY "PAST. PRESENT. FUTURE." EP

"CWO takes the best of indie pop, molding poppy beats and gleaming synths with dense, rhetorical questions masked in everyday conversations. Whether it’s the head turning push-and-pull of 'The Gold Rush' or the repeated motifs in 'Deeper' and 'Heart of a Poet,'  Conversing With Oceans’ offering is both catchy and deep, an accessible record drenched in personal stories and searches."

WHEN THE HORN BLOWS (UK)

Q&A: AN INTERVIEW WITH CONVERSING WITH OCEANS

"In light of his brand new 'TRILOGY' EP, we spoke to the very talented Alex Bondarev about the things, the people, and the places that have influenced his solo project, Conversing with Oceans and inspire him as a person."

Back in my late teens to mid-twenties when, I was in bands and going to shows all over New York City in places, anywhere from dingy rock clubs to backyards shows and was exposed to a lot of great music.  Most notable of those stages was in the basement of the First Lutheran Church of Throggs Neck in the Bronx  during my years working for The Bronx Underground.  To the average music listener, The Bronx wasn't known as a hub for rock music but for many years, they threw packed all ages shows and one of the bands leading the scene was A Moment's Worth, a band to me were the bridge between Brand New and NOFX.  Albums like Ironic Last Words and Start Where You Are were pivotal content in the soundtrack to my upbringing and you should be listening if you aren't already. This discussion that was recorded a few months back and Alex Bondarev took a break from conversing with oceans to converse with me about remaining determined in the wake of constant failure, empathy and being stoked for others, social justice in the wake of Harvey Weinstein, as well as our dear friend Richard who was just great.  Find his bands on the social media circuit at @amomentsworth and @WithOceans

4 RISING MUST HEAR SONGWRITERS

"He continues to impress with his ability to craft a carefully layered wall of sound that has the ability to blow past genre and mere description. Each track we hear plays out like an artistic narrative that intrigues and excites. You should get hip to him now before your friends are telling you about him later."

“Think about the toughest times in your life. Usually in those times you go to a good movie, song, or book... you confide in those things that artists create to get you through the hardest times in your life- and they shape the way you look at the world.”- Eternal Optimist, Alex Bondarev. Music was always the dream for today’s guest, who shares his story of being a refugee from Chechnya, immigrating to India and then the United States as a child. With music as his anchor, Alex is the lead singer of “A Moment’s Worth” along with his four best friends. AMW won the Elfenworks Social Justice Award for their uplifting song “Dedicate" and partnered with this non-profit group. Alex discusses the secrets behind their success and longevity in the music industry. With nearly two decades as a musician, Alex has invaluable tips for balancing passions with responsibilities, becoming more disciplined in your creative process, and how to overcome the fear of releasing your work into the world. Speaking of new work, his solo project is called “Conversing with Oceans” and is quickly making waves- landing a one-on-one showcase with Randy Jackson at SXSW. His second single features a collaboration with the Grammy-nominated John Forté, who co-wrote and produced Fugees’ groundbreaking LP The Score. Alex uses his art to help others in need by volunteering with the non-profit “Musicians on Call” and inspires me to think about how my art can be of service to others. I hope he does the same for you. Conversing with Oceans Delivers Chill Electronic “Wicked Game” Cover

"This cover of 'Wicked Game' has been updated to be more inviting to today’s chillout genre. Where Isaak has a guitar backdrop to his crooning voice, Bondarev provides a different sound with a melodic piano and less focus on the voice.  This different twist produces an all-inclusive sound."
